Our Story
Hassan Ghanati has dedicated the last decade to perfecting his craft, primarily focusing on woodworking while experimenting with pottery, ceramics, and metal. Hassan has graduate degrees in Craft & Design from the Art University of Kashan, Iran, and his work has been exhibited in juried national shows and exhibitions.
His deep respect and concern for the natural world informs his practice, sourcing the wood for his pieces locally and exclusively milling from distressed or fallen trees.
Each hand-carved piece aims to reflect nature, working with the material, and allowing nature to play a hand in the creative process. As a result, each work combines elements of contemporary design and the natural beauty of wood.
In 2023, he was honored with the William and Mary Corcoran Award for Excellence in Functional Craft from Craft Ontario. This accolade underscores his commitment to pushing creative boundaries and delivering exceptional results.
Not a single living tree is used in my craft. This is Zima’s mission:
ethical, handcrafted pieces that are made to last.
